Cllr Andrew Hensman was invited to meet the Bürgermeister of Aßlar, Christian Schwarz, at a Mayoral Reception in Witham, Essex, held on 8th April 2023 at The Royal British Legion Hall, Witham.
Aßlar is the sister town of Waldbröl, the German twin town of Witham, and the evening allowed the Bürgermeister to meet Cllr Hensman, current Chairman of Braintree District Council, and the Mayor of Witham, Town Councillor Jack Bayford, with the introduction made on the evening by Witham Town Councillor, Michael Lager.
The evening was celebrated with a jazz band providing the entertainment and a buffet supper.
Many previous Braintree District Council Chairmen and Witham Town Mayors were among the invitees, along with many current and ex-Witham town councillors.
