During September 2020 Cllr Andrew Hensman, ward member for Braintree Central and Becker Green, took part in the Keep Britain Tidy Great British September Clean alongside residents and members of the local community group.
The target for this activity was a road within Braintree town centre, housing a mix of residential properties, local businesses and retail units.
As well as general tidying up of the area with regard to litter, the day was spent clearing out and restocking flowerbeds to the front of a currently disused property. Coffee mornings within the local community provided £200 which allowed the group to purchase plants for that specific area.
Andrew was also able to provide much appreciated help on the day, organising collection of the bags of litter and detritus picked up from the area:
"It is always an absolute pleasure to work alongside community groups in activities and events. This type of project is particularly important to raise the profile of the town centre as people's homes as well as places of work, and proves that residents care passionately about their surroundings wherever they live in the district."
